Regular Visual Inspection
It is recommended that a visual inspection of the boundary and guide wire installation is done once every 3 months or so to find any issues that may cause malfunction or impact the Automower performance.
Things to look for during the visual inspection are,
- Raised boundary or guide wire – Walk around with some staples and mallet, to staple any raised wires to keep them close to the ground
- Wires over ditches – Look for any wires that may be traveling over ditches or pits. If possible move the wires around the pits and staple close to the ground. If the wire is too tight to move around the pit, then cut the wire and add additional piece using the couplers to move it around the pit.
- Tree Islands – Tree roots can grow over time and cause stress on wires that are installed as islands around trees. Look for signs of stress (if visible) and try to relieve it by adding additional wire or by moving the wire away from the root.
- Evidence of damage – Any damage wire caused by animals or external factors should be repaired immediately to avoid any issues with loop or guide wire in future.
- Power Supply Location – Ensure that the power supply location is not getting affected by rain or direct sunlight – Any factors that may have changed the originally installed position, should be looked at and necessary changes should be made
- Major obstacles – It is good idea to regularly look for any major obstacles that can impact the mower’s performance. Large branches of trees can damage the cutting blades and degrade the blades quickly. Similarly, large rocks or stones can decrease the life of the blades and may result into physical scratches on the mower body.
